Citrus stage by stage
Citrus orchards (lemon, lime, sweet orange, mandarin) often suffer from dieback, where branches dry from the tip back, along with fruit drop and declining trees. Roots and drainage are usually where the trouble starts.
Main growing areas: Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Flowering
Depends on bahar (season)Water stress followed by irrigation triggers flowering. Even flowering gives an even crop.
Fruit set
After floweringSome drop is natural. Heavy drop follows stress or poor nutrition.
Fruit growth
Several monthsFruit size and juice need steady water and nutrition.
Rest
Between cropsPruning dead wood and feeding the tree for the next bahar.
