Maize guide

Weak early growth and poorly filled cobs.

Maize stage by stage

Maize grows fast and feeds heavily. Growers bring us weak early growth, yellow leaves and cobs with gaps or small size.

Main growing areas: Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar and Telangana.

  1. Emergence

    First 2 weeks

Even emergence gives even plants and cobs.

  2. Knee-high to tasselling

    About 3 to 7 weeks

The plant decides how big the cob can be.

  3. Silking and pollination

    About 8 to 10 weeks

Water stress now causes gaps on the cob.

  4. Grain filling

    Until harvest

    Grain weight builds up.
